Non-Executive Chairman
Geoff Clifford

Mr Clifford has been an independent non executive director of Atlas since August 2007 and became Chairman of the Company on 1 December 2008.

From August 2005 until February 2007, Geoff was non executive director of, and consultant, to Aztec Resources Limited. Prior to his time at Aztec, Geoff was General Manager Administration and Company Secretary of Portman Limited for 8 years. Portman owns and operates the Koolyanobbing iron ore project (7-8 mtpa) and has a 50% interest in the Cockatoo Island iron ore project.

Geoff holds a Bachelor of Business degree from Curtin University and undertook post graduate studies in Administrative and Secretarial Practice. He has more than 30 years experience in senior roles in the mining, retail and wholesale industries.

Geoff is currently a member of the West Australian State Council of Chartered Secretaries Australia, and non executive director of ASX listed companies Fox Resources Limited, Glengarry Resources Limited and RMA Energy Limited.

Managing Director
David Flanagan B.Sc, MAusIMM

Mr Flanagan is a geologist with extensive experience in mining operations, exploration and project development in Western Australia, Indonesia and West Africa. Graduating in 1993, David joined Resource Service Group (RSG) in 1995 after working for Normandy at the Fimiston Open Pit Operations. Whilst with RSG he was seconded to Gencor's Bogosu operation as Chief Exploration Geologist and under his leadership the exploration team discovered and developed the Chujah deposits (0.5 moz Au). Whilst at RSG David also worked in an auditing capacity, providing independent geological verification for financial institutions.

In 1999 David joined Gindalbie Gold NL, holding the position of Exploration Manager from 2001. At Minjar, David managed several scoping and feasibility studies defining a total 0.5 moz Au.

Non-Executive Director
Dr David Smith PhD, B.Sc (Hons)

Dr David Smith was appointed as an independent non-executive Director of Atlas Iron Limited on 6 November 2009. Dave had a career at Rio Tinto spanning 30 years and was until recently Managing Director and President of Rio Tinto’s Simandou iron ore operations in Guinea. Prior to that role Dave was Managing Director of Rio Tinto’s Pilbara Iron unit from 2004 to 2008, responsible for all Rio Tinto’s operations in the Pilbara, and Managing Director of Hamersley Iron from 2001 to 2004.

Dave has served as President of the Chamber of Minerals and Energy of Western Australia (2005 to 2008), a Councillor of the Australia Business Arts Foundation (2003 to 2008) and as Chairman of the Board of the National Skills Shortages Strategy working group (2006). Dave holds a PhD in Metallurgy from the University of New South Wales, Australia and a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Metallurgy from the University of New South Wales, Australia.

Non-Executive Director
David Hannon B.Ec

Mr Hannon commenced his commercial career as a stockbroker in 1985 working with several firms including Jackson Securities and BT Securities. He later became a joint partner of a private investment bank specialising in venture capital with a focus on the mining sector. In 2001 David became a director of PSG Afro Pacific Limited, a subsidiary of a listed South African Bank which further concentrated on the mining sector. Since leaving PSGAPL David has operated a private investment bank, Chifley Investor Group Pty Limited and over the last decade has been a director of many private investment companies specialising in venture capital, property investments and public company investments.

Non-Executive Director
Tai Sook Yee

Ms Tai is the Head of Group Strategies & Investments for IMC Pan Asia Alliance Group.  In March 2007, she joined the IMC Group, responsible for the Group’s portfolio management.   In this capacity she supports the Chairman in his vision to build a long term sustainability mission and is responsible for the Group alignment of strategies and investments, as well as finance, treasury and reporting.   

Prior to joining the IMC Group, Ms Tai spent more than 15 years in the heavy building materials industry holding various senior management positions, the last position being Country Director for CEMEX operations in Malaysia.  During this time, she was responsible for the overall operations of the ready mix, aggregates, asphalt and admixture, which was one of the big four heavy building materials suppliers in Malaysia.  In addition, she has more than ten years experience in the area of governance and investments for listed groups involved in property development, construction and building materials supply. 

Ms Tai is a qualified Certified Public Accountant from Malaysia and spent more than 8 years with KPMG (during which she spent 2 years in KPMG New York).  She also spent a few years in an investment bank where she worked on various corporate activities.  Ms Tai has more than 25 years of working experience.
