Atlas Iron is a dynamic iron ore producer and exporter with operations located in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. The Company has a strong pipeline of quality resource projects set to underpin rapid growth in the Pilbara region. With a projected growth from two to five mining operations within the next two years, Atlas Iron is increasing it's workforce to support rapid growth.
The following roles are currently available:
Senior Mine Geologist
The Senior Mine Geologist will be driving the geology functions at the Pardoo operation, while making key decisions that will contribute to the overall success and development of the site. This is a sincere career opportunity for a current Mine Geologist with well developed experience, seeking career advancement and the opportunity for genuine mentorship.
More specifically, you will be responsible for:
- Safety standards;
- Quality control and predications;
- Reconciliation; and
- Geotechnical interpretation and reporting.
Optional, this role operates on a FIFO 9/5 roster from Perth, or a 5/2 residential roster if preferred, and the successful applicant will have a solid track record in a similar position.
Senior Mine Surveyor (Wodgina) 9/5 FIFO Roster
The Senior Mine Surveyor will be based out of Wodgina and will be providing safe and accurate survey services that are in line with statutory regulations, contractual obligations, and company objectives. Using the latest technology, you will be responsible for safety, survey and production control, in addition to statutory reporting.
This role operates on a FIFO 9/5 roster from Perth and it is essential that you are an Authorised Surveyor with a proven background in mining operations and the desire to promote excellence in a remote operation.
Production Controller (Wodgina) - 2/1 FIFO Roster, rotating shift (days and nights)
The primary purpose of this role is to execute and monitor the 24hr plan through direct supervision of the respective contractors (mining, crushing, screening and haulage contractors) with an emphasis on quality and safety.
As the first point of contact Key accountabilitiy will include:
Monitoring, Communicating and executing the 24 hour shift operating plans including:
Mining – material movement supervision - floor and wall control - ore allocation and delineation - block allocation - dumping locations - stockpile management on the ROM.
Crushing and Screening - production sampling Haulage – plan implementation - stockpile naming and reclaim supervision.
Document Controller - Senior Role
Essential to support Atlas Iron's continued growth this is a newly created role within our West Perth Office
Offering an attractive and competitive salary package this role reports in directly to the senior project manager. This is an interdependent team role with great appeal for an Experienced Document Controller keen to take full control for a system implementation. The position on offer is primarily Perth based although some field time will be required.
In the first instance, you will effectively plan, control, coordinate and direct the storage and transfer of documents, including controlled correspondence, both incoming and outgoing, applying industry standard document control practice, tools and techniques that aid in realising the Company’s quality management goals.
Ongoing aqnd key accountability is for the efficient coordination of document and records management services to ensure a high standard of information provision to the Company, ensuring systems and processes are aligned with the Company’s strategy and direction.
To be successful in this application the candidate will have a solid background in all facets of document control from document control management systems, document control processes and procedures through to archiving. Attention to detail, flexibility and the ability to engage and influence key personnel are all important attributes.
Senior Exploration Geologist - Perth Based!
This is a leading role with the successful applicant playing a pivotal part in the company’s growth of it’s resource base. Exploration Geologist - FIFO 12.5/8.5 Roster & Attractive Salary Package
Reporting in directly to the Senior Geologist, this is an opportunity for an Exploration Geologist seeking professional development to join a progressive team to grow and develop your skills.
The Exploration Geologists will manage, design and implement exploration programs in conjunction with the companies Senior Exploration Geologists and Exploration Manager. Exploration programs will range from grassroots to resource definition. General duties will involve surface mapping and sampling, drill supervision, supervision of contractors, adherence to QAQC & OHSE standards, generation of maps and sections; data interpretation and report writing.
Essential requirements in this role include:
- Tertiary Qualification in Geology
- Current Western Australian Drivers License
- Senior First Aid
- Good leadership, project management, communication and interpersonal skills as well as being flexible and energetic.
Project Engineer – Civil / Mech - Newly created permanent role - West Perth Location & Attractive Salary Package
(Capital Works Projects)
With recent growth, an established operating mine at Pardoo, and another soon to open at Wodgina, the Company is seeking a Project Engineer – Civil / Mechanical based in our West Perth office to assist in the ongoing delivery of small to medium “capital works” related projects that support the ongoing development and operations of these mines. In a secondary capacity, it is also expected the candidate will be able to assist the Company with input into ongoing feasibility works, and be able to contribute as/when required.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to join a progressive company in which you can grow and develop your skills. The position on offer is primarily Perth based although some field time will be required.
The primary purpose of this role is to plan, execute and deliver assigned capital works related projects, across varied disciplines, and to strengthen the Company’s capacity to deliver on its project objectives, using the application of project management knowledge, skills, tools and techniques to meet the project objectives that realise the Company’s production goals.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Manage assigned project work from execute kick off, through to training, handover and closeout, using industry standard and recognised project management processes, tools and techniques to aid in the delivery of the projects and Company objectives
- Provide project engineering support to the various departmental divisions of the Company as required, particularly in ongoing feasibility work
- Manage external Consultants, Contractors and Suppliers in the delivery of agreed project objectives
- Ensure adequate resources are available to deliver the assigned project works within the context of functions provided by the department
- Provide regular reports and updates to the Senior Manager – Projects on the status of assigned project works
- Provide assistance to the Senior Manager – Projects in the completion of the annual Project Development department business plan
As part of the Operational Projects team the successful candidate will hold Tertiary qualifications in Civil or Mechanical Engineering, 3-5 years of relevant project engineering industry related experience, preferably involved in brownfield and/or greenfield capital works environments. The successful candidate will have a solid background in multi-discipline management of a variety of small to medium capital works projects, with demonstrated experience of coverage across the major disciplines. It is also expected the candidate has had exposure to typical mine development feasibility works, and has the capacity to provide input where required. An in depth understanding of Commercial and contractual experience with developing scopes of works, contract documentation, and associated procurement processes, with an attention to detail, flexibility and the ability to work autonomously are also important attributes.
Exploration Field Assistant - Field Based- FIFO 12.5 days on 8.5 days off
Atlas Iron has an opening for a switched on Exploration Field Assistant to be field based on a FIFO 12.5/8.5 roster.
Reporting to the Field Supervisor, this role offers an exciting opportunity to join a progressive company in which you can grow and develop your skills.
The primary purpose of this role is to support geologists in their field activities as required, and to conduct this in a safe manner in accordance with Atlas Iron’s procedures and OHS guidelines.
Duties will include:
• Gridding, write up pegs, organise pegging programs, peg with GPS/DGPS
• GPS usage, track logs
• Drilling, sampling, preparation of bags and chip trays, supervise dozing, collect samples, post drillhole checks, rehabilitation of drillhole
• Logistics support, driving, care maintenance and storage of equipment, ordering of equipment, maintenance of camp supplies
• Ensure safe working practices
• Any other duties as required
As part of a remote team, the successful candidate will have experience in a similar role and display a mature outlook. You will need a positive can do attitude and have the ability to communicate effectively as an essential team member in a challenging and remote environment, whilst maintaining a strong focus on safety. Essential to this role is a current Western Australian Drivers License
